This intricately designed engraving depicts the traditional crested buckle badge of Clan Colquhoun, a prominent Scottish highland clan. The central figure is a magnificent stag’s head, rendered in profile with detailed line work that captures the texture of its coat and the grandeur of its multi-pointed antlers. This head rests upon a twisted torse, or heraldic wreath.
The entire emblem is enclosed within a circular frame stylized as a leather belt, complete with a functional buckle on the left side and decorative studs along the rim. This "buckle badge" design is historically significant; in Scottish tradition, while a coat of arms belongs solely to the clan chief, any member of the clan or loyal follower (septs) can wear this type of badge as a sign of allegiance.
Above the stag, a scrolling banner displays the clan’s motto: "Si Je Puis", which translates from Old French to "If I Can." This motto is widely interpreted as a statement of resolve, capability, and determination—a pledge of effort and endurance rather than boastfulness. Below the belt, a final banner clearly identifies the badge as belonging to "Clan Colquhoun," cementing its purpose as a powerful symbol of identity, loyalty, and shared heritage linking current generations to their ancient, Loch Lomond-based ancestors.
