This detailed crest belongs to the ancient Scottish Clan Henderson, a name with roots in both the Lowlands and the Highlands. Represented here in the traditional form of a Scottish Clan Badge, it features the Chief’s crest enclosed within a leather strap and buckle, signifying the allegiance of all clan members.

At the top, the clan’s Latin motto reads: "Sola Virtus Nobilitat." This translates to "Virtue Alone Ennobles," a philosophical motto common in Scottish heraldry, emphasizing that true nobility is derived from a person's character, integrity, and actions rather than ancestral bloodline or inherited wealth.

The central iconography is highly distinctive. Resting upon a twisted heraldic wreath, a hand (properly described in heraldry as couped at the wrist) holds a golden six-pointed estoile (a star with wavy rays). Crucially, this star is surcharged (layered over) with a blue crescent moon at its center.

Historically, the estoile symbolizes shining worth or divine guidance. The crescent has various meanings, sometimes signifying a second son or referencing service during the Crusades, but in combination here, it creates a unique and striking heraldic "charge." Together, the hand holding the fused star and moon suggests a determined grasp on honor, ambition, and perhaps contrasting elements, all guided by the overarching principle of virtue.
