Crest Symbolism:
This crest features a lion, the king of beasts, depicted sejant guardant erect (sitting upright while facing the viewer). In heraldry, the lion is the quintessential emblem of undying courage, strength, and valour. Its guardant gaze suggests vigilance and prudence. The lion holds between its paws an escutcheon (a small shield), representing defense and protection. The shield is charged with martlets, mythical birds depicted without feet. Martlets are traditionally associated with the fourth son in a family line but also symbolize those who subsist on wings of virtue and merit, often linked to pilgrims or Crusaders who had no land to rest upon. The argent (silver) background of the shield signifies peace and sincerity.
