The Complete History of Clan Montgomery

Discover the people, places, and struggles behind one of Scotland’s enduring family names.

From the lands of Eaglesham to the towers of Eglinton Castle, the Montgomery story follows centuries of ambition, conflict, and change. The Complete History of Clan Montgomery by Bagtown Clans explores how a Lowland family rose to prominence, secured an earldom, survived bitter rivalries, and built a legacy that reaches far beyond Scotland.

Follow the Montgomeries through medieval warfare, strategic marriages, religious upheaval, and civil war. Explore their connection to the Battle of Otterburn, the violent feud with the Cunninghams, and the murder of the fourth Earl of Eglinton. Discover how inheritance, royal favour, and political choices shaped the family’s fortunes across generations.
